GUITARS: Ryan plays a beautiful sunburst Fender Bass VI (unknown vintage). This unusual (and somewhat rare) instrument is classified as a baritone guitar because it is tuned one full octave lower than a regular guitar's tuning. Corey employs a classic sunburst 1968 Fender Precision Bass. At one time he had the chrome bridge cover installed, but it has since been removed. Jeff uses a handsome sunburst late 1980's Fender Standard Telecaster. His second guitar is somewhat of an enigma. The instrument appears to be a tobacco sunburst 1961 Epiphone Olympic with dual pickups and a single cutaway "Les Paul" style body. Many guitars with the same name do not look anything like this model, but the vintage makes a big difference. Most of the photos of this vintage and model of guitar have only one pickup and two control knobs.
AMPLIFIERS: Ryan plugs into an Ampeg Reverb Rocket, as well as a VOX AC-15. Corey uses an Ampeg-SVT, along with a SWR-350. Jeff has an arsenal of amps. When playing live he usually uses a 1970's Fender Silverface Twin Reverb, and a 1970's Fender Silverface Pro Reverb side by side in stereo. When in the studio, he likes to use a late 1970's Marshall JMP with EL34's. The guitarist also plays thru a late 1960's Fender Blackface "hot-rodded" amp (which is sometimes used live). During the fall tour of 2002 Jeff began using a vintage Marshall JMP Mk2 Master with his Fender Pro Reverb.
PEDALS: Ryan uses what we believe is a Boss OD-3 OverDrive. Corey takes advantage of a single Boss SD-1 Super OverDrive. Jeff usually rocks with an Ibanez TL5 Tremolo, an Ibanez DPL10 Pan Delay, along with a Boss OS-2 OverDrive / Distortion, and last but not at all least his Danelectro Pastrami Overdrive. Recently, a Boss TU-2 Chromatic Tuner and a RFX A/B-Y Switch has been added to his arsenal.
KEYBOARDS: Evan and Liza take turns playing the borrowed Fender Rhodes. Brooke used to play on her 1977 Suitcase Model with the built in amp. Liza has taken over playing the Horner Melodica, but Evan is always able to assist if needed. Evan plays a Roland Juno-60 synthesizer, along with an unidentified Casio keyboard (possibly a backup for the Juno or the Fender Rhodes). Liza adds a unique element with her early 1950's white Camerano piano accordion.
EFFECTS: Evan's bag of tricks includes a Boss DR-660 Dr. Rhythm drum machine, along with a Roland SP-808 Groove Sampler.
PERCUSSION: Evan is the owner of both a 1969 blue Ludwig drum set, along with a vintage 1964-65 blue Pearl drum set. He usually plays most of the live shows with the Ludwig kit, and uses the Pearl kit in the studio. Joey makes magic with his 1990's green sparkle custom Spaun drum set.
STRINGS: Liza uses a late 1800's Stradivarius reproduction violin from Germany. Unfortunately the instrument lost most of it's collector value when the neck was broken. One of the band's melodicas apparently fell upon it after one of their concerts. Miraculously the body was not damaged, and it was possible to attach a replacement neck. |
